Welsh IT networking specialist Capital Networks Solutions has teamed up with London Welsh RFC to provide the Aviva Premiership newcomers with a sophisticated new IT network to give them the best chance of rugby success this season.
The contract has seen Barry-based Capital Networks install new hardware, a new server, full wireless system, secure remote access and all the IT infrastructure required at the London Welsh headquarters at Old Deer Park in Richmond.
The second phase of the project includes installing desktop PCs, a new telephone system and providing the secure infrastructure to a new online ticketing system at the club’s new playing home at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford.
Wireless laptops have also been provided to the coaching staff and physio team for use anywhere in the ground to allow players’ fitness levels and performance to be analysed, not only in training but in the heat of a Premiership fixture.
Much of the unified communications system which has created a secure online connection between Old Deer Park and the Kassam Stadium has been required to ensure the London Welsh IT facilities adhere to strict rules laid down by the rugby authorities to all Aviva Premiership clubs.
Capital Networks managing director, Sarah Edwards, said: “As founder members of the London Welsh Business Club, which is also based at Old Deer Park, we were delighted to have won this five figure deal contract which came about as a direct result of our support and membership.
“A great deal of technology has gone into upgrading the rugby club’s IT facilities which was a requirement of their entry into the Premiership, and a major investment has been made by the club in a new cloud-based ticketing system which needed to be highly reliable and also very secure.”
Sarah added: The project has been more challenging because it involved both sites at Old Deer Park and the Kassam Stadium, but once we have completed the second stage of the project at the Oxford venue we believe London Welsh will be in the premiership as far as IT facilities are concerned.
“As a Welsh-based business we have been delighted to have played an important role in helping London Welsh RFC to achieve their Rugby Premiership ambitions while, at the same time, extending our ties to London and the surrounding areas and raising our profile in what is potentially a highly-lucrative area for future business for us.”
As partners, Capital Networks will be sponsoring a London Welsh Aviva Premiership fixture and will be entertaining Welsh and London-based customers and staff at all the club’s home games this season.
London Welsh RFC managing director John Taylor said: “Capital Network Solutions have been supporters of London Welsh through the Business Club for the last two years and we are delighted they have now extended their sponsorship of the club.
“CNS have upgraded our IT systems to cope with the demands of being in the Aviva Premiership and their on-going technical support will be invaluable going forward.”
