Ben made a total of 27 appearances for Welsh during the 2014/15 season, scoring three tries. In the Premiership, in 2014/15, he crossed twice in 15 appearances.

The hugely experienced Number 8 made 17 appearances for Welsh in all competitions in 2013/14 scoring one try. He also captained the Exiles in the B&I Cup against London Scottish at Monks Lane.

The South African had previously scored six tries in 26 appearances for Moseley during the club's 2012/13 Championship season before moving to the Exiles.

Ben joined the Birmingham club from Leicester Tigers in 2012, for whom he made his debut against Worcester in 2007/08 having come through the club's academy.

He made a total of 30 appearances for the Tigers' first-team, including starting the club's 2009 Heineken Cup quarter-final victory over Bath. He also captained Leicester to A League success in 2009/10.

Aside from his season at Moseley, Ben gained Championship experience at Nottingham and Bedford, with whom he was dual-registered during his time at Welford Road.

Ben was brought up in Norfolk, went to Gresham School and represented England Schools.
