Alan was initially registered with Henley Hawks for the 2013/14 season and lined out against Welsh in the sides' pre-season friendly meeting at Dry Leas, but the full back would go on to feature heavily for the Exiles in last season's Championship winning campaign, including in the play-offs.

He made nine Premiership appearances for the Exiles during the 2014/15 season.

Alan crossed five tries in 23 appearances for the Exiles in 2013/14, including a brace in the 1st leg of the club's Championship semi-final with Leeds Carnegie at Headingley. He claimed another try in front of the Live Sky Sports cameras, in the defeat to London Scottish at the Kassam Stadium.

Last season's exploits completed Alan's extraordinary transition from community officer to first-team. Alan initially joined the Club in 2012 tasked with rolling out its community development programme across Oxfordshire, following its promotion to the Premiership.

But far from a novice plucked from rugby obscurity to be handed a dream opportunity, Alan spent the last four seasons playing in the Welsh Premiership with Newport RFC, while completing his degree and a Masters at UWIC, which included one pre-season training season with the Dragons.

Alan has also previously played for England Students alongside London Welsh prop forward Billy Moss, as well as playing against Exiles scrum half Rob Lewis last season for Newport against Cardiff.

Although things might have panned out differently had he signed for London Welsh after finishing his degree, when former head coach, and current Scarlets forwards coach, Danny Wilson showed an interest in bringing him to Old Deer Park.
